How Artec 3D is supporting Ukraine

Sign up for 3D scanning courses in Munich!

Learn how to create 3D models using Artec Eva and Space Spider 3D scanners at MakerSpace, a high-tech workshop platform at the Technical University of Munich.

MakerSpace is an innovation hub, based at the Technical University of Munich (TU München), which is Germany’s leading university according to the QS World University Rankings. Laid out on 1.500 sq m, MakerSpace features various production areas, equipped with high-tech machines and devices, which are used to process metal, wood, plastic and other materials. Members of the MakerSpace community work with 3D printers, laser cutters, water jet cutters, and Artec 3D scanners Eva and Space Spider.

This fall MakerSpace is holding courses in 3D scanning for beginners, where anyone can learn how to 3D digitize real-world objects using our high-precision scanners.

Scanning with Space Spider at MakerSpace

This technology puts you at the forefront of modern production, saving both time and money.

Why learn 3D scanning? This technology puts you at the forefront of modern production, saving both time and money. The most popular 3D scanning applications include quality inspection at manufacturing facilities, reverse engineering of parts for retrofitting machines, creating custom-made prosthetic and orthotic devices – you name it. Without 3D scanning you’d have to use rulers, measuring tapes, photos, hand-drawn sketches – these methods would take hours or days to get you the results you intend to have, but they would not necessarily guarantee high precision. With 3D scanning you can have an accurate 3D replica of just about any object, no matter how complex the shape, and incorporate it into your current workflow.

3D technology is also so much fun! You can 3D scan yourself or your family and friends and print your 3D portraits, or create an animated 3D avatar. You can make new art objects with 3D technology: scan a home design piece, modify it the way you want and print it out! You can place 3D scanned objects in a virtual reality environment, creating new experiences. There are myriads of ways how you can benefit from 3D scanning.

In order to make the process efficient and enjoyable, you need easy-to-use, accurate and reliable hardware and software – that’s exactly what Artec offers, and MakerSpace students will be able to see it for themselves. During the course, they will learn how to collect 3D data with Artec scanners, process it in Artec Studio software, and make use of it. You don’t need to have any special technical skills to participate in the training session, the only prerequisite is a good level of German. Additional details can be found on the MakerSpace website. We wish the best of luck to each new user of Artec products!
