Artec 3D to showcase leading 3D scanning solutions for CAD at SOLIDWORKS World 2018
Join Artec 3D at the largest annual gathering of users of SOLIDWORKS, the industry-standard CAD software. SOLIDWORKS’ Certified Solution Partner, Artec 3D will present high-precision handheld 3D scanners to an audience of over 5,000 engineers, manufacturing CEOs, educators and students at SOLIDWORKS World 2018.
Developing new product designs normally starts with capturing existing ones, and Artec 3D has the tools to create a watertight 3D model of any industrial object with metrological accuracy. The model can be easily exported to a CAD environment in order to be examined, modified and tested in it.
The best way to obtain a quality 3D model is to use Artec 3D scanners, which attendees of SOLIDWORKS World 2018 will be able to try out on the Artec stand. Expect to see Artec Leo, the revolutionary AI-based 3D scanner that makes professional 3D scanning as easy as shooting a video. Leo is equipped with a touchscreen and a built-in battery so you don’t need to connect it to a tablet, laptop, mains power source or battery pack in order to scan. Just point the scanner at the object or scene you need to 3D digitize and press the Start button. You can walk freely around the object, unhampered by any wires.
Leo’s ease of use is complemented by its impressive 3D resolution of up to 0.25 mm and 3D point accuracy of up to 0.1 mm, which guarantees you won’t miss the slightest curve or the sharpest edge of the object you’re scanning. At the same time, Leo is great for scanning large scenes thanks to its large field of view.
The 3D data Leo collects is processed on its powerful NVIDIA® Jetson™ platform in real time. Leo can show you a 3D model being built right in front of your eyes. Once the scanning session is over, the data can be transferred via Wi-Fi, Ethernet or an SD card to a computer to be edited further in Artec Studio 12, the comprehensive program for 3D scanning and post-processing.
The latest build of Artec Studio saves you a great deal of time thanks to an array of expedited algorithms. Take Global Registration, which has always been one of the most resource-intensive and time-consuming post-processing operations. This algorithm now works up to 20 times faster! To put it into perspective, for a 9,200-frame dataset of a large agricultural vehicle Global Registration now takes 6 m 8 s to complete. Compare it to 1 h 56 m in Artec Studio 11.
Another major breakthrough is the improved Base Removal algorithm. Since its introduction in AS 11, this algorithm has become smarter and now can detect curved or uneven base types and delete them automatically in an instant, saving you the need to do the tedious job of eliminating them manually.
Artec Studio 12 also makes it much easier to scan the tricky black, shiny and thin surfaces by automatically adjusting the scanner’s sensitivity settings, meaning you no longer need to find the optimal parameters manually – a great enhancement for novices. Make sure to see for yourself how this feature works with the best-selling Artec Eva 3D scanner at the upcoming SOLIDWORKS World event. A versatile handheld 3D scanner, Eva is used across a variety of industries for tasks like making reverse-engineered replicas of construction machine parts, monitoring corrosion levels of water pipes, restoring vintage cars, and more.
If you need to scan smaller objects primarily, your scanner of choice would be Space Spider, which was developed for the International Space Station. Space Spider is a robust device with a smart temperature stabilization system, ensuring long-term repeatability in data capture regardless of possible fluctuations in environmental conditions. With up to 0.1 mm 3D resolution and up to 0.05 mm 3D point accuracy, Space Spider is the most precise scanner in the Artec product line.
Both Space Spider and Eva are currently used at NASA’s Hybrid Reality Lab to 3D scan tools and other assets that astronauts take to space. The 3D models of these objects are placed in NASA’s hybrid reality simulator, where astronauts not only see and move the objects but also get tactile feedback when interacting with them, which gives them a much stronger and better sense of immersion.
Bundles of Artec scanners and software are, in fact, a popular choice with our clients. Thanks to our successful collaboration with 3D Systems, a leading developer of reverse engineering software, we have expanded our pool of bundles with products such as Geomagic Design X, Geomagic Control X and kaiyun开云体育官方 . By acquiring one of the packages we offer, manufacturing companies can save money on streamlining their workflow. Come to SOLIDWORKS World 2018 to choose the solution you need.
